PASSPORT

The Portuguese electronic passport is an individual’s travel document, which allows the bearer to enter and leave national territory, as well as the territory of other States that recognize the document’s function. 

 

Any Portuguese citizen is entitled to apply for a passportPassport must be applied for at the Consulate in person. For those under 18 years of age, citizens suffering any mental disability, the passport may be requested by the parents or legal guardians, in the presence of the applicant.

 

Incase of first time passport application for minors (below 18 years of age), both parents need to be accompanying the minor along with their valid passports and copies of the same. In the absence of any one parent, a Power of Attorney authorising the other parent to apply for the minors passport, needs to be given to the accompanying parent along with a copy of the ID mentioned in the POA.

 

The passport is valid for five years. For children under the age of 4, the passport is valid for two years.

 

Passport can be renewed once the validity expires or within 6 months before the date of its expiry.

 

For first time application / renewal:

Documents needed:-

  • Valid original Bilhete de Identidade / Cartão de Cidadão.

  • Original Passport (for renewal)

 

NOTE: Those applicants that are not registered at the Consulate General of Portugal in Goa, need to carry along with them 2 recent photographs (passport size, white background), a copy of Assento de Nascimento and Assento de Casamento (if marriage registered in Portugal), and copies of BI/CC, Passport, OCI and address proof along with originals.

 

 

Incase of loss / theft of passport:

Documents needed:

  • FIR Police Report
  • Valid Original Billhete de Identidade / Cartão de Cidadão
  • Fotocopy of  passport

 

Collection of Passport: Passport can be collected either by the applicant himself or by another individual holding a notarised Power of Attorney issued by applicant, authorising him for its collection. Incase of minors, anyone parent may collect the passport of the minor child.

Entry Time for collection: 9.00 hrs to 10.30 hrs.
