CIVIL REGISTRATION

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION

 

Documents needed:-

 

Portuguese National

    1. BI or passport (original & a xerox copy);

    2. Copy of assento de nascimento;

 

Indian/Foreign National:

  1. Passport (original & xerox copy);
  2. Birth certificate;
  3. Marriage certificate (teor) issued by the Civil Registrar (All elements have to be in conformity with the assento de nascimento / birth certificate).
  4. Marriage certificate issued by the Church/Temple/Masjid, in case of  religious marriages (All elements have to be in conformity with the assento de nascimento / birth certificate);
  5. Death certificate, if applicable.

 

- All original documents issued in English or in a local language (with the exception of passport/ B.I./C.C.) must be accompanied by a Portuguese translation;

- All Indian documents and respective translations, (with the exception of  passport / B.I. / C.C.), must be attested with Apostille by Ministry of External Affairs of India.

- Documents issued outside India should be attested with Apostille of the respective issuing country. In case the country is not a member of the Hague Convention, the document should be attested by Consulate / Embassy of Portugal in the area of jurisdiction of the said country.

 

Upon completion of registration process, a free original marriage certificate will be sent via local postal service to the applicant's residencial address.

 

FEES:  Marriage registration Fees + Attestation Fees. (Kindly refer to Consular fees )

                                         BIRTH REGISTRATION OF MINORS

 

Documents needed:-

                Minor (below 18 yrs):

 

  1. Passport (Original and a xerox copy);
  2. Any other photo ID proof for minor above 14 years example: Adhaar card, school id. (Original and a xerox copy);
  3. Birth certificate.

 

Parents of Minor Child:

 

  1. Passport / BI of both the parents (Original and Xerox copies);
  2. Xerox copy of assento de nascimento of the parent whose birth is registered in Portugal;
  3. Xerox copy of assento de casamento, if marriage is registered in Portugal;
  4. Original birth certificate of the parent who is an Indian/Foreign national.

   

- All original documents issued in English or in a local language (with the exception of passport/ B.I./C.C.) must be accompanied by a Portuguese translation;

- All Indian documents and respective translations, (with the exception of  passport / B.I. / C.C.), must be attested with Apostille by Ministry of External Affairs of India.

- Documents issued outside India should be attested by Apostille of the respective issuing country. In case the country is not a member of the Hague Convention, the document should be attested by Consulate / Embassy of Portugal in the area of jurisdiction of the said country.

 

NOTE: Both parents and the minor have to be personally present along with all the above mentioned documents.

In the absence of any one parent, a power of attorney may be presented. It has to be duly translated and attested.

                                         DEATH REGISTRATION

 

Documents needed:-

  1. Death certificate;
  2. Identification document of declarant (original and a xerox copy).

 

NOTE:  All original documents issued in English or in a local language (with the exception of passport/ B.I./C.C.) must be accompanied by a Portuguese translation;

- All Indian documents and respective translations, (with the exception of  passport / B.I. / C.C.), must be attested with Apostille by Ministry of External Affairs of India.

- Documents issued outside India should be attested by Apostille of the respective issuing country. In case the country is not a member of the Hague Convention, the document should be attested by Consulate / Embassy of Portugal in the area of jurisdiction of the said country.
