Ministry of Foreign Affairs sets up Hotline 13/03/2020

In order to give support to the Portuguese who are temporarily travelling abroad and need help returning to Portugal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) has set up the COVID-19 hotline, a service based on the email address (covid19@mne.pt) and the telephone line (+351 217 929 755). This hotline for travellers will be available on business days, between 9 am and 17 pm and, outside these hours, it will be complemented by the activity of the Consular Emergency Office, which is in operation 24 hours a day (+351) 961 706 472). With this decision, the MNE makes available, to the Portuguese travelling around the world, an additional service. It is destined, mainly, to provide information regarding the return to national territory in the event of occurring travelling difficulties in the country where they are located. The hotline will not be used to handle other consular matters such as issuing citizen cards, biometric passports or processing of visa applications, which follow their own and regular channels at the consular posts.
