Change of voting location for the Assembly of the Republic Election in 2024

Considering the election for the Assembly of the Republic will be held in 2024, it is hereby informed that citizens who have changed their residence and wish to change their place of voting must update the address associated with their citizen card before January 10, 2024.

This step is essential to ensure that the address in the voter registration is the one shown on the voter's identity card.

Therefore, if you live abroad, have a citizen card and have changed your residence, you must:

Change and confirm the address associated with the citizen card before January 10, 2024.
Change your address online on the ePortugal portal (https://eportugal.gov.pt/), using your Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card + PIN.
If you have an Identity Card and have changed your residence, you must:

Go to a Portuguese consulate or consular post in your area of residence, in order to obtain a Citizen Card with an updated address.
Changing the address associated with the citizen card is only completed after confirmation, within the indicated period. Additional information about confirmation can be found at https://eportugal.gov.pt/

All registered voters can consult the address shown in the electoral register, with the respective census commissions (parish councils, consulates or consular posts), online in the reserved area of the Voter Portal (https://www.portaldoeleitor.pt ), using your Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card + PIN or at https://www.recenseamento.mai.gov.pt

If you are registered abroad, you can exercise your right to vote by post or in person.

If you intend to exercise your right to vote in person, you must express this intention (if you have not done so in a previous election for the Assembly of the Republic) to the census committee in your area of residence (consulate or consular post) before January 10th 2024.

If you do not choose to exercise your right to vote in person, you will receive documentation to exercise your right to vote by post at the address shown on the voter registration.
